Tom Bennett, coach of the 1990 and 1992 State Champion Memorial Spartans will be one of the main instructors throughout the week. Coach Bennett retired from Memorial in 2007 after 30 years as the Spartan Head Coach. He still continues to do private lessons, group lessons, clinics and camps. Prior to coaching at Memorial, he coached junior varsity baseball at UW-Madison and managed state semi-pro teams in the Madison area for many years. Coach Bennett has received numerous recognitions as Semi-Pro Manager of the year, Madison’s High School Coach of the Year, Big Eight Coach of the Year, and the Wisconsin High School Baseball Coaches Coach of the year. He is a member of the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. His Award Plaque, with his picture, is on display at Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. His combined record is 535 wins and 258 losses. Under his tenure, his Spartan teams won 18 regional championships and made it to the sectional finals 13 times. They made 7 state tournament appearances with State Championships in 1990 and 1992. His final year (2007), the Spartans were State runner-ups. In 2008, Tom was honored to coach the High School South All-Star team for the second time. Coach Bennett also coached Little League and Little League All Stars for six seasons.
